Appropriate Birthday Thank You

So I had a brilliant idea for our son's birthday thank you notes. I thought I would pick a couple of the best birthday pictures and do notes from Costco Photo Center. Costco's Photo Center has great cards that include text, they come all printed with the return address on the envelopes. All I need to do is address the envelopes, put on a stamp and go.

I am getting a little pushback from my husband who thinks we should really hand write the notes. I don't really know if there is an etiquette answer to this question. Oh well, it's too late now anyway because I ordered them and they are shipping as I speak.
